Drilling Single Element

This type of query lets you select a single element of the dimension as a result of the query.

Picture 2: Single member selection example.
In order to choose an element in this mode, you should:

  1. Choose the "Single Element" option from the list of available operations.
  2. Choose the desired element by double-clicking on it or selecting the check box and then pressing the "OK" button.

Using this type of queries on dimensions not located on the axes, works as a filter, only analyzing the values corresponding to the selected element.
When this type of query is applied to dimensions located on the axes, it lets you focus analysis on the selected element, regardless of the fact that the element might be in an intermediate level in the dimension's hierarchical organization. The resulting query is similar to drilling elements of a lower level of hierarchy (The leaves of the tree)
If the user selects more than one element, the type of query automatically changes to the "List of elements" mode.
This type of query can also be performed on the measures. It is the default type of query applied to measures.
Example.
In the example shown in the previous picture, data from the first quarter of 2001 are checked.
