Groups are a classification of the set of indicators. When implementing the Balanced Scorecard methodology, groups can represent each of the 4 perspectives as well as the different strategic objectives required.

The color or status of each Group is calculated from the statuses of the subgroups or indicators it contains.

In order to do that, it is necessary to indicate which Aggregation Methods should be applied to infer the status of the group.

The properties that must be defined for the groups can be found in the "General" and "Aggregation" tabs in the pane on the right.

Adding a new group to the scorecard

Groups can be added below the root element, as well as below other already existing groups. There are no limitations to the number of groups the scorecard can contain, or to the way they are grouped. That is to say that the group can be in a second, third, or fourth level in the hierarchy or in any other you wish it to be.

To add a group you must follow these steps:

  1. Select the element in the hierarchy to which you wish to add a new group, and display the menu with the right button of the mouse.
  2. Choose the group option from the menu entry so that the group is added.
  3. Select the group and define its properties.

Deleting groups from the hierarchy

When an element is deleted from the hierarchy, all its descendants are also deleted.

To delete an element you should:

  1. Select the element you wish to delete in the hierarchy.
  2. Choose the Delete option in the right click drop-down menu.

Moving groups within a hierarchy

It is possible to move groups within a hierarchy by means of the mouse, using the Drag & Drop operation.

This operation can be performed by dragging the source to the destination. Groups can be moved to other Groups or to the scorecard's root.

When moving an element all the subordinate elements in the hierarchy are moved as well.

Using the clipboard to copy and paste groups

Any element in the tree but the root element can be copied to the clipboard, so that it will be later on pasted from the clipboard to a new destination.

To copy an element to the clipboard you must choose the Copy option from the right-click drop-down menu, once the element you wish to copy has been selected.

To paste an element from the clipboard you must choose the Paste option from the right-click drop-down menu on the element below the one you wish to paste the clipboard's contents.

You may also copy an element. In order to do so, hold the CTRL key down while the element is dragged with the mouse to the destination location.
