Defining a Map
To start defining a map you should follow these steps:
- Edit the scorecard definition that contains the indicators you wish to include in the strategy map
- Use the corresponding button in the Toolbar to launch the Map Editor. Bear in mind that this button only appears in the Toolbar when the active window is that of the O3 Scorecard Editor.
- A new window containing the map is opened:
- If this is the first time it has been launched, a new Map is created in the same location where the scorecard is, with the same name and the extension bsMap.
- If the map had been created before, you may proceed to modify it.

Picture 24: Strategy Map Sample
The previous picture shows a strategy map associated to a scorecard that implements the Balanced Scorecard methodology. In it we can see the perspective of Learning and Growth, the Internal perspective, the Customer's perspective, and the Financial Perspective. Besides, you may see the different indicators in the colors corresponding to their statuses, and the existing cause-effect relationships. For instance, the "Increase Sales" indicator is shown in Red, which indicates that the set goals have not been reached yet. In order to view a strategy map you first need to define it with the component O3 Strategy Map. This must be launched from O3 Scorecard Editor.

The toolbar of the component that lets you define the strategy map contains the following options:

*Defining a Map*
