O3 Report Studio

From this version onwards, Ideasoft O3 incorporates a new component for the generation of static reports. This component is soundly based on Eclipse BIRT, which has been extended to integrate with O3 multidimensional models.

This new Ideasoft O3 component includes a report creation environment (at the level of Desktop), a Web and Desktop based report run environment . Access to multidimensional models from the reporter, can be obtained in a simplified way by means of references to views or using MDX, the multidimensional query language. For this purpose, O3 supports a subset of MDX query sentences which is a de facto industry standard.

By means of this component, O3 Report can generate excellent levels of presentation in several formats, such as  PDF, HTML, MS WORD, etc., created from the information coming from the multidimensional models as well as straight from the relational databases themselves.

This module is totally integrated with the analytical capacities of O3, which means a significant extension of the capacities of O3 as to data exploitation.

This Manual

The aim of this Manual is to present the report generation module available from O3 version 5.0 onwards, and offer a simple guide to its use with specific examples that can be followed in whatever O3 setup you have.

You are also advised to read the bibliographic material specified in the Bibliography section below, for more complex reports o for specific details of the tool.

This manual follows the necessary steps to build an attractive report using data stored in the Wine cube included in O3 installation.
