A desktop is the window organization mechanism used by IdeaSoft O3Performance Suite.

Desktops let you organize the windows of the different applications in a very simple way, including windows with information of datamarts and views, rules and even other vertical applications developed with this platform.

The desktops system displays active windows, laying them out in different sections that act as independent containers. Navigation among these containers is very friendly, and is done by selecting the corresponding tabs.

The desktop is a view or a collection of views that have been preset to respond to a single opening request.

The desktop's functionality is given by the possibility to create a batch of views focused on periodically analysing one fact or one situation in particular. It is a "shortcut" to the opening of several views. Once an element of the desktop is viewed in the Analysis Pane, it can be drilled from the toolbar, the dimensions bar and the measures bar like any other datamart or view.

How to create a desktop from O3 Portal

Once the user has added several tabs containing different components for their analysis, the configuration can be preserved for future analysis sessions, just by saving the desktop.

To do so, you have to select the link Save Desktop in the page header.

The dialog box  must be filled in with the name of the desktop and the included views - (if applicable), indicating the security level (share)

The views that form the desktops may have different levels of security, that is, you will be able to have public and private views on the same desktop.

Once the desktop has been saved, an available icon will remain in the section corresponding to Desktops, in order  to access it.

How to edit a desktop from O3 Portal

You may edit a previously-created desktop. The contents of a tab can also be arranged, as well as the possibility to add or delete tabs.
