The measures and dimensions that form an analysis model are displayed in the area named Dimensions Bar. Each of them is represented by a combo containing the elements in a dimension, a name and associated icons.
This image shows the Products dimension in the Dimensions bar, where the user can observe the following:
- The name of the dimension: Products
- There is one selected element, Cucumber on which analysis is being performed
This is the icon that indicates the type of query performed on that dimension. This is the same icon that is used to drag the dimension to one of the axes, through the action known as Drag & Drop.
This icon lets you see the list of elements in a dimension.
These arrows let you go over the elements in the same level of hierarchy without having to open the corresponding list. They are known as rotators.
The Dimensions Bar is specific to each analysis window. This characteristic enables you to view the information on dimensions and measures of all cubes or views being analyzed simultaneously.
The combination of different dimensions determines the possible ways to analyze the different measures of the model.
The Dimensions Bar lets you change the analysis context, by performing any of the following operations:
- Changing or adding dimensions to the axes
- Increasing or decreasing the analyzed level of detail of a dimension, exploring any of its levels
- Filtering elements from dimensions not on the axes, to limit analysis to those elements
- Changing the analyzed measure
Some of the characteristics of the Dimension Bar that facilitate navigation and the understanding of analyzed data are shown below:
- The icon that indicates the type of exploration is located beside the name of the dimension. Its shape changes depending on the type or query performed.
- The measure exploration icon is located above the measures combo.
- You may arrange the dimensions bar to view all the set of dimensions or just a reduced subset, so that it will only occupy one row of the Dimensions Bar. The reduced subset is displayed by default.
- When taking one dimension over the analysis panel, by selecting it with the mouse and pressing the left button, the level of detail established in that dimension is seen.
As mentioned above, it is possible to view the whole set of dimensions or a reduced subset.
When the whole set is viewed, O3 Browser shows all the dimensions defined in the model. In order to do that, it establishes the size of each dimension according to the size of the window, placing a maximum of 7 dimensions per row. As a consequence of this, the size of each dimension may be smaller than expected.
If you wish to minimize the area occupied by the Dimensions Bar, you may configure it so as to view the reduced set of dimensions. In this case, you should bear in mind that:
- The size of each dimension is determined so that it will have a minimum reasonable width.
- Dimensions are shown in a single row; hence, some dimensions may lie out of sight from the user. To see those dimensions use the left
and right 
scroll buttons at both ends of the Dimensions Bar. - The number of dimensions presented in the reduced subset, depends on window width. When the width of the window is changed, the width of the Dimension Bar varies, and so does the number of dimensions displayed.
- O3 Browser eliminates the rightmost dimension when the bar is reduced and has not enough room to display all dimensions.
Steps to follow to select either the reduced subset or the whole set of dimensions:
- Press the button to the right of the measures list, as shown in the following picture.
- Select the desired option.
