Reports can be parameterized with two types of parameters: Simple parameters and cascade parameters.

In the following links there are practical examples on how to use each type of parameter.

  • Simple Parameterizing
    In it, parameters defined are direct parameters on the report. 
  • Cascading Parameterizing
    On the other hand, in this kind parameters depend on one another, and are recalculated if any of them is modified. 

Parameterizing is very useful when working with dates. The following example shows how to create parameters to manage dates.
