You should use the "Open" option in the "File" menu or the Toolbar to open a cube or view in client / server mode. These are the steps to be taken:

  1. Select the "Open" command in the "File" menu. The dialogue box" Open Cube or View" appears.
  2. Choose the cube or view to open through any of the following options:
    • Enter the URL for the cube or view.
    • Click on the arrow of the menu in the dialogue box and select one of the cubes or views available on the list.
The list contains the recently opened cubes.
To access a cube in O3 Server you must choose a URL beginning with "otp: //...".
    • Enter the name or IP of the server where O3 Server is running.
    • Press the button to log on to the server. Username and password will be requested.
    • Choose one of the cubes or views shown on the list offered by O3 Server.
    • Select "Open"

Specification of the server and cube you wish to access through a URL has the following format:

otp://<server>/<cube name>{usuername:password}
Or
otp://<server>/<cube name>/<view name>

where:

  • <server> is the name or IP of the machine where O3 Server is executed.
  • <cube name> is the name given to the cube at the time of publishing it in O3 Server
  • <view name> is the name of the view
  • {username:password} indicates the username and password to access O3 Server.

Including username and password is optional. If it is used, there should be a space between the name of the cube or view and the username.
Here are some examples of URLs to access cubes and views in the server:

otp://my_server/Sales
otp://my_server/Sales Username1:JSmith03
otp://my_server/Sales/Sales_By_Customer

You may also select a URL for the cube or view using the File | Reopen command.

The submenu in this option shows the list of the last 10 used cubes.

To access a cube in client / server mode, it must be published in O3 Server.

The administrator user, through the O3 Server Administrator module is the one to make the corresponding definitions including access controls for the different users.

The publishing of views is performed at the time they are saved, stating that you wish to save the view at the server. Users must have permission to do this, which is also defined through O3 Server Administrator.

To open a cube or view from the O3 Server automatically when O3 Browser is started, you may include the path and cube or view name as a parameter, in the same way as explained in the previous section.
