h3. Available O3 Server Statuses
Possible O3 Server statuses are described in the following table
|| _Status_ || _Description_ ||
| Down | O3 Server is shut down and does not admit additional connections |
| Interrupted | Services for connected users are interrupted. All access processes currently taking place are interrupted |
| Admin | It is the status for administrative tasks, such as registering new cubes, or changing users' roles |
| Running | It is the standard running status. All services and authorized connections are available |
h2. Shutting Down O3 Server
It is possible to switch off O3 Server from *{_}O3 Server Administrator{_}* using the Shut Down Server command. Execution of this command means notifying connected users, blocking new connections and shutting down O3 Server after the wait time indicated when executing the command.
To shut down O3 Server:
# Start *{_}O3 Server Administrator{_}*.
# Select the File \| Shut Down Server command in the Administration Tree.
# Enter the wait time for shutdown. A message is sent to all connected users.
# O3 Server will shut down once the wait time has expired.
h2. Sending Messages to Users
You may send messages to connected users through *{_}O3 Server Administrator{_}* using the Send Message Command

h2. Seeing Information about Open Cubes and Closing Them
From the Administration Tree you may see information about the server's current activity. This information includes the cubes which are open and the users currently consulting each of them.
To see open cubes and close them:
# Start *{_}O3 Server Administrator{_}*.
# Expand the Services \| Cubes \| Open Cubes branch in the Administration Tree.
# Update the list of cubes running, by means of the right button of the mouse.
# Expand the branch of the cube you are looking at. Information about the open cube will be displayed in the properties pane in two tabs: Cube and Runtime.
# To close the cube, right-click on the cube and select the Remove option.
!O3ServerAdministrator-RunningCubes.png|vspace=10,hspace=10!
!O3ServerAdministrator-RunningCubes-Runtime.png|vspace=10,hspace=10!
Closing a cube means shutting down all users' connections to the cube and sending a message to them. Users will remain connected to other open cubes. The cube will remain published, and a future connection attempt will be successful. To prevent further connection to the cube it is necessary to disable its publication.
In order to see users opening cubes or to shut down the connection:
# Start *{_}O3 Server Administrator{_}*
# Expand the Services \| Cubes \| Open Cubes branch in the Administration Tree
# Update the list of running cubes by means of the right button of the mouse
# Expand the branch of the cube you are looking at. A list of connected users will pop up
# In order to show users' information, click on the Users branch
# To shut down the user's connection to the cube, right-click on the user and select the delete operation
!O3ServerAdministrator-RunningCubes-User.png|vspace=10,hspace=10!
Shutting down a user's connection to a cube only shuts down connection to a specific cube and those they might have to other cubes are maintained.
The user will later on be able to reopen the cube they were disconnected from. To prevent the user from reopening the cube, security settings must be changed.
Please note:
The branch to expand in order to shut down connections is in both cases "Open Cubes" and not "Available Cubes". If a cube is deleted from the "Available Cubes" branch, it is permanently deleted from the server and will have to be published again.

From the Administration Tree in O3 Server Administrator it is possible to enable and disable the automatic enforcement of rules when O3 Server is started.
To enable the enforcement of rules at O3 Server startup:
- Start O3 Server Administrator
- Expand the Services | Rules branch from the Administration Tree
- To enable the enforcement of rules, tick the box "Check rules on startup" in the Properties Pane and indicate the username and password of the administrator user with whom rules will be enforced
NB:
Rules defined on each cube are applied after it has been built regardless of the option "Check rules on Startup" being enabled or not.
Seeing Information about Connected Users and Disconnecting them
You may see the users currently connected to O3 Server from O3 Server Administrator.
To see the users connected to O3 Server or disconnect them:
- Start O3 Server Administrator
- Expand the Services | Clients branch in the Administration Tree
- Refresh the group of connected clients by means of the right button of the mouse
- To shut down a client's connection, tick the client and click on the disconnect button in the Administration Pane
The disconnection of a user means shutting down all connections they might have to different cubes. The disconnected user will have to start a new session to continue working with O3 Server. The user in green is the O3 Server Administrator connection the administrator is currently using.
Client Information
The table below shows the properties of connected clients.

Seeing Statistic Information about Cubes
The server generates a set of statistic data that enable the administrator to improve the use of available resources, thus achieving a better performance.
For instance, when cache use is analyzed, the administrator can modify its size and achieve a better performance or optimize the use of resources.
To see the Statistic Information about cubes:
- Start O3 Server Administrator
- Select the Statistics | Cubes branch in the Administration Tree
- Select the cube and a set of statistic data will be displayed in the Properties Pane
NB:
To enable statistic information you need to have activated O3 Server Monitoring first.
Statistic Data
The following table describes the statistic properties of cubes.
Property | Description |
---|---|
Start time | Date and Time execution started |
Current time | Current Date and Time |
Cache % | Percentage of correct answers in the cache |
Average I/O operations | Number of reading/writing operations in the disc |
Total Query | Total number of queries performed |
Average Elapsed Time | Average query time measured in milliseconds |
Updating Statistic Information
All the information about cubes being executed is very dynamic, as it depends on actions performed by different clients of the server . The set of data shown in the Properties Pane must be explicitly updated each time the administrator wishes to consult it.
In order to update statistic information perform any of the following actions:
- Press the Update button in the corresponding Properties Pane
- Select the File | Update command
- Right-click on the corresponding branch of the cube. A menu will drop down. Select the Update command
Importing and Exporting O3 Server elements
Through O3 Server Administrator you may Import an Export the existing elements in the server. Depending on the selected options, it is possible to export all the cubes, definitions, scorecards, rules, actions and models. The elements selected in the export are kept in a file (.zip) and for importing them the file name must be indicated.
This mechanism can be used, for instance, for version migration procedures, and for work environments with independent production, development and testing servers.
To export O3 Server elements:
- Start O3 Server Administrator
- Select the Tools | Export Server command in the Administration Tree
- Enter the destination file where the selected elements of the server will be saved
- Select the type of elements to export and click on the Export button. On finishing the process, a message will be shown
To import O3 Server Elements:
- Start O3 Server Administrator
- Select the Tools | Import Server from the Administration Tree
- Enter the destination file where the exported files were saved
- Click on the Import button. When the process is finished a message will be displayed
